| VW motors have been used in the BIG 5 for years. Once the most
popular configuration, it's a proven power plant with tons of performance parts
and options. Turbo systems are a popular option for 4 seat cars to really
get around. VW motors also offer the more simple adaptation to the BIG 5
car, alleviating radiator requirements which provides more room for a
traditional gas tank just in front of the engine. A VW bus or 091 transaxle is
usually enough to handle the power from VW engines, a little cheaper than the
beefier Mendeola transaxle. VW motors have
pretty much faded away from new cars in favor of later technology
overhead cam motors. But if you prefer VW for personal reasons, we
can take care of you, no problem. |

| So if you prefer using a souped up VW motor we'll
be glad to accomodate you, it's an easy installation. You'll get the same awesome
handling as our turn-key cars because of the ideal weight distribution using a
VW motor, along with one of the lightest and shortest 4/5 seat sandcars
you can buy.
It's surprising when you check out the BIG 5 in a
test ride. You will notice the BIG 5 has one of the most roomy sandcar interiors
in the industry. You'll go
nuts trying to figure out where we got the room since the car is so light and
short (117" WB). It's also probably the easiest sandcars you can find
to get in and get out of the seat due to it's convenient seating ergonomics. But when you experience the difference in handling and
suspension you'll be further puzzled how we did that too. It's magic ;-) |
