Are you concerned about durability or frame cracks from constant flex? How about crumple zones in an accident? Funco has put tremendous focus on these concerns and created an astonishingly rigid frame. The reduced flex of this rigidity naturally provides great durability, no cracks, sustained geometry even after hundreds of jumps. This is all done with frame triangulation and sheet material. Although our side panels are not for frame integrity, the .090" aluminum roof sheet provides shear strength on the top and our aluminum diamond plate floors stiffen things up on the bottom. As you may have learned from our safety page our BIG 5 car has 12 vertical support bars arranged in such a way that makes a tight and rigid frame, reducing frame flex to provide a solid feel to the car, not to mention eliminating the possibility of cracks. The .090 aluminum roof can also be optionally ordered to double as an occasional carrying rack by installing an additional horizontal center roof brace. If you carefully compare other designs to ours you'll see the difference in vertical support and triangulation. Funco designs are built like no other, look like no other, and best of all they drive like no other car on the market. The BIG 5 is truly a unique high performance sandcar, recognizable from far away. Driving is believing. You really have to test ride one of our cars to appreciate the difference in our handling and feel. The experience you get from driving a Funco car is almost subliminal. This impacts the way you feel when you ask the car to do something. Many owners say their Funco feels like an extension to their body because the car's reaction to driver input is so predictable, and fun. The rigidity provides this predictability. Knowing how your cars will react is important to build driver confidence. Will it lean or push when turning? Will it pitch or dive when you stop? Does it squat when accelerating? The answers to these questions are different between all makes of cars, sometimes they are subtle differences, sometimes they are dramatic differences. The point we're trying to convey is that all of these handling attributes take years of development to get right, and over the last 30yrs we think we've found the answers, and rigidity is a big part of it. Yes, we believe we have the best handling, utility, quality and safety in the sandcar business. Come out to Glamis, lets go for a ride so you can experience what we're talking about. We think you'll agree. Below is a BIG 5 frame getting tabbed out for motor and transmission. Here you can get a good view of the tubing triangulation that provides the tremendous strength and rigidity in our car.
